Howison Homestead
Shortly after moving to Prince William County in 2001 I discovered we had a little bit of a gem close to home, the Howison Homestead Soccer Complex. I’m an avid soccer fan, and back in those days I was still playing the beautiful game. So I often ventured to the local fields to kick the ball around, and I even joined multiple teams over the years to play in 7v7 tournaments.
I also visited the fields often when the Woodbridge International Soccer League was in existence and practiced my photography skills shooting the local players during their weekend matches. It provided me with a great way to hone my skills for when I shot the faster paced DC United games at RFK Stadium in DC. Since moving near the Homestead I’ve watched it transform from just three natural surface fields with little to no amenities, into a modern complex with three turf fields, a new club house, and lots of other improvements that have made it so much nicer.
This past year crews have been busy improving things even more by adding paved walkways, tiered viewing platforms, expanding the club house, and laying down artificial grass where spectators can enjoy the soccer matches much more comfortably.
As I started my recovery from Ostomy Surgery I began visiting Howison more as part of my daily walks and decided to take a few photos highlighting the fields. It also gave me an opportunity to take my Kodak IIIc film camera out for a spin to capture a few frames in film. Below are a few selected images from my daily walks…

Every now an then I get to see the locals…
