Ride Overview

Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) is home to one of the most challenging and rewarding mountain bike trail networks in Northern Virginia. Maintained by the Quantico Mountain Bike Club (QMTB), the trails feature sustained climbs, fast descents, and highly technical singletrack that appeals to experienced riders.

Access to the trail system is limited due to its location inside an active military base. However, riders without base access still have opportunities to experience these trails during the annual Quantico Epic, a well-organized event that opens the network to the broader riding community. QMTB marks multiple course options of varying lengths, making it possible to sample the trail system in a single unforgettable day.

Ride Notes: The Marine Corps Base Quantico trail system is not open to the general public. Riders must have a valid reason to be aboard the base, such as DoD affiliation or approved access. Many local riders gain access by riding with someone who already has base credentials.

The Quantico Mountain Bike Club allows a limited number of non-DoD affiliated civilians to join for a modest annual fee. Interested riders should contact QMTB directly for current eligibility and access details.

QMTB also hosts the annual Quantico Epic, which provides a rare opportunity for riders without regular access to experience this exceptional trail system on fully marked courses.

Unaffiliated civilians may also apply for base access through the DBIDS program, though approval requires a valid purpose and is not guaranteed.
