Lima Polaroids

Instant Limeños: Capturing life in Lima with my Polaroid

I was recently cleaning up my office when I came across a small box of Polaroids shot back in April of 2010. They were taken during a long walk from the center of Lima down to Miraflores, on one of my many trips home—this time accompanied by a photographer friend.

We took the Metropolitano bus and hopped off near the Sheraton, on the edge of Lima’s historic center, before making our way south on foot toward Miraflores. Along the way, we stopped often—drawn in by small moments, street scenes, and the everyday rhythms of the city—capturing a handful of instant portraits and details that caught our attention.

These Polaroids are a simple snapshot of that walk, and of Lima itself: unfiltered, immediate, and fleeting.

Eight selected images from the batch. All of the people we met along the way…
